Blood cancer’s genetic warning signs may appear years early

Genetic warning signs of blood cancers that eventually progress may be detectable years before patients develop serious symptoms. The research could enable earlier clinical intervention and help clinicians distinguish true malignant clones from benign clonal hematopoiesis, a common age-related phenomenon. These findings have implications for monitoring strategies in patients with clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential (CHIP).
