A study published in JAMA evaluated the Medicare Oncology Care Model (OCM), a major alternative payment program designed to improve the value of cancer care delivered to Medicare beneficiaries. Using a difference-in-differences regression design, researchers compared Medicare spending, healthcare utilization, and quality-of-care metrics between oncology practices that voluntarily participated in the OCM and propensity-matched comparison practices.
