Phase 3 EuroNet-PHL-LP1: complete resection alone gives 79.5% five-year event-free survival in paediatric early-stage nodular lymphocyte-predominant Hodgkin lymphoma

In the prospective phase 3 EuroNet-PHL-LP1 trial, patients under 18 with stage IA/IIA nodular lymphocyte-predominant Hodgkin lymphoma who underwent complete lymph node resection followed by active surveillance had a five-year event-free survival of 79.5% (78 of 247 eligible patients). Those with unresectable disease received three cycles of anthracycline-free CVP chemotherapy, with good outcomes in patients reaching complete metabolic response. No treatment-related deaths were reported. The trial tested whether treatment intensity can be reduced in this rare lymphoma subtype; the findings apply to early stages only.
